�� has been recognized as one of the nation’s most environmentally responsible universities in The Princeton Review’s 2026 Guide to Green Colleges, earning a standout Green Rating with 98 points out of 99 possible.

The Green Rating evaluates colleges on more than 25 data points, including climate commitments, renewable energy use, waste reduction, sustainability curriculum and campus engagement, placing �� among the highest-rated institutions in the country. The guide, now in its 15th year, profiles colleges that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability in operations, academics and student engagement.

This recognition reflects ��’s longstanding legacy in sustainability and renewed momentum. Recent efforts include the hiring of Vice Chancellor for Sustainability Andrew Mayock to align and elevate campuswide action and the launch of the Buckley Center for Sustainable Education to embed sustainability across academic pathways, made possible by a $10 million philanthropic investment from alum Spike Buckley to expand sustainability learning and leadership opportunities for students.

In addition to the Green Rating, �� also serves as the host institution for the new Carnegie Elective Classification for Sustainability, a national framework recognizing colleges and universities that integrate sustainability into everything from academics and research to operations and engagement. CU’s leadership on this classification affirms that sustainability is not simply an initiative but a foundational commitment.

The Princeton Review selected 388 institutions based on data from university sustainability reports and student surveys, evaluating indicators such as renewable energy use, waste reduction, sustainability curriculum and campus culture.

The ranking also reflects strong student demand for environmentally responsible universities. In fact, 59% of prospective students say a school’s environmental commitment influences their college choice, according to the Princeton Review’s 2025 College Hopes & Worries Survey.

The final day for students to take the Healthy Minds Study survey is Wednesday, Oct. 22, and the Renee Crown Wellness Institute is hosting a Coffee with Crown session on Monday, Oct. 20, to provide a space for taking the survey.

Students who received an email invitation in recent weeks to take the Healthy Minds Study survey can visit the Crown Institute from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to complete the survey. Have a coffee and help �� enhance its support for student mental health.

All who take the survey by Oct. 22 will be entered to win $500 in Campus Cash and VIP football tickets.

Students: If you received an email to participate in the Healthy Minds Study, visit the Crown Institute on Oct. 20 to complete the survey and grab some complimentary coffee. The survey deadline is Oct. 22, with a chance to win $500 in Campus Cash and VIP football tickets.

The first of its kind in Boulder County, the facility will offer a new space to host events large and small, as well as a venue for showcasing the innovation and leadership occurring in the community and on campus.

From the delicious food at Ajax Tavern to the tailgate celebrations before Buffs home football games, the hotel is one you have to check out for yourself—and enjoy! Here are five things to know about Boulder’s newest hotel.

The country's largest all-electric hotel

As the largest all-electric hotel in the U.S. with LEED Gold certification, the property features modern spaces, advanced AV technology, locally inspired food and beverage, and a sustainable design that performs at a high level while reflecting its surroundings.

Expansive event space

With 26,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, Limelight Boulder can host gatherings ranging from small strategy sessions to programs for up to 1,200 guests. Preparations are underway for ��'s 150th anniversary celebration in 2026, a milestone that will honor ��'s legacy, engage the Boulder campus and broader communities and help set the stage as �� looks toward the future.

A dedicated 150th steering committee has been working behind the scenes since 2024 to shape a yearlong celebration that will complement the state of Colorado's 150th anniversary celebrations and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

"150 years ago, ��'s founders dreamed of a university that would transform lives and strengthen society," said Chancellor Justin Schwartz. "If they could see the university today, I think they would be awestruck by the influence and impact this campus holds for students, staff and faculty, alumni and all of Colorado. It is an honor to celebrate our beginnings and our history and write the next great chapter in the �� story together."

This webpage will serve as a central hub for students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, families and community members to learn more about ��'s 150th plans—including events, storytelling initiatives, service projects and opportunities to participate in both campus and statewide celebrations.

What to expect

A calendar of events and engagement opportunities beginning in early 2026.
A yearlong series of storytelling initiatives and historical exhibits that:
- Celebrate ��'s legacy across eras.
- Center missing histories and voices and narratives that need to be corrected or differently told.
- Connect �� to the histories of Boulder, Colorado, the United States and the world.
- Inspire participation in ��'s vision for the future.
Cross-promotion and collaborations with the state of Colorado's 250/150 commission.
