ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø Middle School Ensembles Staff
The Middle School Ensembles (MSE) program is part of the music education department at the ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø College of Music. Music education faculty oversee the program, while graduate students are selected to direct the day-to-day operations and mentor participating undergraduate students.Ìý
Undergraduate and pre-licensure students are theÌýprimary instructorsÌýwho work directly with ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø MSE participants. Through the MSE program, these students have the opportunity to apply the skills they’re learning in methods and techniques as part of the college’s curriculum for future music educators; middle school students benefit from working with energetic, outstanding collegiate musicians.

Garrett Graves, Program Graduate Director
Graves is a PhDÌýstudent in music education at ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø. He earned a bachelor’s in music education from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and a master’s in music education from the ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø. He taught 6-12 band and general music in rural Mississippi prior to coming to Colorado.
Lynn Holmes, Trying on Teaching (TOT) Director
Holmes is a graduate student studying music education at ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø. She earned a bachelor's in music education from Troy University in Troy, Alabama. She has taught 6-12 band in rural Alabama and served as Interim Director of Instrumental Ensembles at Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama prior to coming to Colorado.

Madison Joy, Band Graduate Assistant
Madison is a second year masters student in music education with a secondary emphasis in ethnomusicology. This is her second year working with MSE as a band graduate assistant. She has worked with instrumental music programs in Atlanta, Knoxville, and Boulder. Before coming to CU, Madison earned a bachelors degree in music education and musicology from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
Catherine Oles, Band Graduate Assistant
Catherine Oles is a first-year master’s student at The ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø pursuing degrees in Music Education and Saxophone Performance. She serves as a Teaching Assistant within the music education department and is an active member of the saxophone studio, participating in wind band, saxophone quartet, and solo endeavors. Before attending ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø, she held multiple teaching positions, including with Austin-area concert bands, marching bands, and The Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. Oles completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Texas, from which she graduated with honors.
Colby Roseberry, Orchestra Graduate Assistant
Colby is in his first year of a Master of Music Education at ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø. Before coming to Boulder he taught 9 years with positions in K-8 general music, 4th through 6th grade beginning band and strings, middle school choir, and director for musicals at the middle and high school level. Colby earned his bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Spanish Linguistics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Andrew Stein, Band Area Director
Andrew Stein is a junior at ºÚÁÏÉçÇøÍø studying music education. He has participated in the MSE program all three years he has been at CU, as both a sectional coach and conductor. Additionally, he has taught alongside other music teachers at the elementary through high school levels in the Denver-Boulder area and his home of Northern California.
Morgan White, String Area Director
Morgan White is currently in his junior year of his bachelor’s degree in music education with an instrumental emphasis. This will be White’s third year participating in the MSE program as a staff member. In the two years prior, he served as a saxophone sectional coach for both silver and gold bands. Even though his main instrument is saxophone, White is super excited to be working with the strings this year in MSE!
