Project description:听We will work together to develop virtual reality (VR) visualizations to represent mathematical concepts and structures. Participants will learn VR tools and techniques (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, OpenXR, or other frameworks) to craft interactive experiences that convey mathematical ideas in engaging and intuitive ways. An important goal is to produce VR demos that can be showcased at outreach events or in the classroom to inspire broad audiences and demonstrate the beauty of mathematics.
Number of undergraduate students:听3-4
Commitment:听5 hours/week for pay or course credit
Due date:听Tuesday, September 2 at 5:00pm
Application:听We are seeking a mix of participants: some who bring experience with programming relevant to VR development, and others who are primarily interested in mathematics, visualization, or outreach. You don't need to already know VR development to join鈥攖he project will provide opportunities to learn. An application includes:
  • Short statement of interest, including relevant experience and any ideas for mathematical topics to visualize in VR
  • Unofficial transcript
  • CV or resume
  • Schedule/availability
